Clint Black To Perform On Kentucky Derby Eve

Renowned country music artist Clint Black will headline the fourth annual Fillies & Lilies Party on Friday, May 5th. Taking place on the grounds of Churchill Downs® at the Kentucky Derby® Museum, Fillies & Lillies is one of the most prominent social events of Derby week in Louisville.

The public is invited to join Derby Experiences, the Official Package Provider to Churchill Downs, for a night of fine-dining cuisine, drinks and entertainment. Doors to the Fillies & Lilies Party will open at 7:30 p.m., just after the final race of the Kentucky Oaks® program.

Held annually, the Fillies & Lilies party has featured a host of celebrities in the past, including Pro Football Hall of Famers Warren Moon, Thurman Thomas and Shannon Sharpe, who attended last year’s event, and were on hand to take pictures and sign autographs with guests. Jockey Johnny Velasquez, the leading money-earning jockey in the history of the sport, attended the party in 2015.

The Fillies & Lilies Party will feature premium open bars, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a bourbon lounge and gourmet food stations as attendees enjoy the allure of the Kentucky Derby Museum and its exhibits depicting the history of America’s oldest continuously held sporting event.

“Fillies & Lillies is one of the exciting, star-studded parties during Derby weekend that make the Kentucky Derby not just America’s greatest horse race, but also one of the most exciting entertainment events in the world,” said Ryan Jordan, General Manager of Churchill Downs.

Tickets for the Fillies& Lilies party are available at $599 per person at DerbyExperiences.com or by calling 888-384-7088.

“Happily Ever After” Spectacular to Debut at Magic Kingdom May 12

Beginning May 12, 2017, Walt Disney World guests can discover the newest, most spectacular fireworks show in the history of Magic Kingdom Park with “Happily Ever After.” The stunning new nighttime extravaganza will feature more lasers, lights and projections than any Magic Kingdom Park show before it. (Disney)

It’s no secret that every ‘once upon a time’ story ends with ‘happily ever after.’ Beginning May 12, Walt Disney World Resort guests will discover just how magical and emotional that fairy tale ending can be with the newest, most breathtaking fireworks show in the history of Magic Kingdom Park – “Happily Ever After.”

In addition to fireworks, the stunning new nighttime extravaganza will feature more lasers, lights and projections than any Disney show before it. “Happily Ever After” is also an entirely new kind of Disney storytelling, one that will take guests on an inspiring journey filled with heart, humor and emotion. Guests become part of the journey themselves as they follow favorite Disney characters on an adventure to seek out their destiny, face adversity and ultimately fulfill their dreams on the road to their happily ever after.

The 18-minute spectacle will feature scenes from classic Disney films such as “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin” to modern blockbusters “Moana” and “Zootopia.” Cinderella Castle will become part of the story itself, with dazzling projections bringing heartfelt Disney stories to life on and around the iconic 18-story-tall castle. Quasimodo from “Hunchback of Notre Dame” swings from the turrets. Woody and his pals from Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” recreate the castle entirely out of toys. And Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” envelops the castle in her signature green flames.

The story begins with scenes of fantastic dreams full of hope, wonder, magic and light. Disney villains soon become part of the story, attempting to quash those beautiful dreams and forcing the heroes to fight for what they believe in. Overcoming their fears, the heroes triumph and are celebrated with spectacular fireworks.

Because no Magic Kingdom Park fireworks display is complete without this little bit of magic, Tinker Bell will fly across the night sky, reminding guests that with a little faith, trust and pixie dust, everyone can find their own happily ever after.

Characters and scenes from more than 25 Disney films will be featured through state-of-the-art projections, enhanced by more than 50 choreographed spotlights, brilliant lasers and plenty of awe-inspiring fireworks. Paired with an emotional score, the new spectacular will drive the message home that anyone can grab hold of their dreams and make them come true as long as they are brave enough to listen to what guides them and bold enough to pursue their destiny.

The score for “Happily Ever After” was recorded by a 75-piece orchestra in London and includes tunes from a multitude of Disney movies, including “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Jungle Book” and many more.

“Happily Ever After” will be presented nightly. Show times vary based on park hours.

Motorhome Show Rolls into Indy

Hundreds of motorhomes and a variety of accessory merchandise will be on display at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The motorhome exhibition takes place August 27-30, 2012, as part of a convention of an international motorhome owners club, Family Motor Coach Association, based in Cincinnati.

Major motorhome manufacturers and dealers will be bringing new motorhomes to Indianapolis for convention attendees to tour. Plus, other companies will display their wares inside Champions Pavilion, making available RV accessories, components, supplies, campground information, and more.

Monday, August 27, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., a special preview of only the motorhome exhibits will take place. Regular hours for the motorhome displays will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 28, 29, and 30. Hours for the displays of RV accessories, supplies, and components will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 28, 29, and 30.

The daily fee for viewing motorhomes and booth displays is $7 per person; children 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Individuals with an active military ID will be admitted free also. A Daily Passport that provides admittance to the exhibits, all seminars, and evening entertainment is available for $65 per person ($55 for FMCA members). The admission fee on Monday covers admission on Tuesday as well.

Free public parking will be available off of East 38th Street, across from fairgrounds Gate 3. Admission passes can be purchased at Gate 3.

Those who own a motorhome or other self-contained RV are invited to take part in all of the activities and to stay with the rest of the group at the fairgrounds. The gate price for non-FMCA members is $240 per RV (with two people); this non-member fee automatically grants a one-year FMCA membership or Family Motor Coaching magazine subscription to the RV owner. The FMCA member price is $190.

Convention attendees will be able to check out the latest features and innovations that are available in motorhomes. Some of the displays will include production-line units, and others will demo custom-built coaches for uses ranging from family camping to transporting high-tech business equipment, or for use as conference coaches. A great variety of motorhome styles and a broad price range will be represented.

Motorhomes are a popular travel option. According to a recent consumer study conducted by the University of Michigan, U.S. ownership of RVs has reached record levels. Nearly one in 12 U.S. vehicle-owning households now owns an RV.

For more information, visit FMCA.com or call (800) 543-3622.
