Two Tequila Cocktails for National Lemonade Day

National Lemonade Day is on August 20, and Hornitos has taken the classic summertime drink to the next level with the Hornitos LeMANade and El Padre.

No need to waste a ton of time indoors on a Saturday. These spiked lemonade recipes are easy-to-make and perfect for the end of summer, offering a refreshing mix of sweet and tart flavors.

Hornitos LeMANade

Hornitos LeMANade - Environment

  • 2 parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • ½ part lime juice
  • 1 ½ part ginger ale
  • 1 ½ part lemonade

Preparation: Combine ingredients in a glass and serve. Garnish with a lemon peel or slice.

El Padre

El Padre Original

  • 1 part Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • 2 parts lemonade
  • 3-4 dashes of green hot sauce
  • Salt/smoked paprika rim

*Recipe yields 3 servings

Preparation: Rim shot glass with salt and smoked paprika. Mix chilled lemonade, chilled Hornitos Plata and hot sauce in mixing glass and pour into a tall shot glass.

Caipirinha, Meet Caipiruila

The Caipirinha is Brazil’s national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar and lime. While cachaça isn’t a staple here in the States, tequila is, and we have a new take on the Brazilian favorite which you can enjoy while watching the summer games. Say hello to the Caipiruila!

Caipiruila

Caipirinha

  • 1 ½ parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • 1 lime, quartered
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • Splash of club soda

Preparation: Place lime and sugar into an old fashioned glass and muddle the ingredients. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add Hornitos® Plata. Add a splash of club soda and serve.

National Tequila Day Cocktails!

National Tequila Day is July 24th, and we have some cocktails for you to make at home!

Hornitos Paloma

Paloma Pitcher

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • 2 parts fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 1 part simple syrup
  • 2 parts club soda

Preparation: Build in order over ice in a tall glass, stirring once before adding soda and once after. Garnish with a lime wedge or grapefruit wedge. Rosemary sprig optional.

Hornitos Manhattan

Manhattan

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ parts Hornitos® Añejo Tequila
  • ½ part sweet vermouth
  • 1 tsp maraschino cherry juice

Preparation: Combine all ingredients over ice. Stir. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry. Served up, no ice.

Hornitos Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned

  • 1 ½ parts Hornitos® Black Barrel® Tequila
  • 1 part simple syrup
  • ½ part amaro liqueur
  • 2 dashes bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Preparation: Combine simple syrup, Hornitos® Black Barrel® Tequila, amaro and bitters. Add ice and stir. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with an orange peel.

Two Red Cocktails for the 4th of July

Strawberry Muddler

  • 3 parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • Handful of fresh strawberries
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 2 teaspoons superfine sugar
  • Fresh pepper
  • 1 cup club soda

Preparation: Put strawberries in a small pitcher and mash to your desired consistency. Add juice, club soda, Hornitos® Plata and combine along with 4 good grinds from the pepper mill. Fill 2 glasses halfway with ice and divide drink among glasses.

Hornitos Firecracker

Hornitos Firecracker

  • 1 part Hornitos® Plata Tequila
  • 4 parts concord grape juice
  • ½ part fresh lemon juice

Preparation: Add ingredients to glass over ice and stir.
